Whimsical Bird Houses and Other Novelty Bird Houses
What is a whimsical Bird House? I gave that question quite a bit of thought. To be able to answer that question, I took a tour of my favorite bird house website, FeedersFountainsAndBirdhouses.com. I was, quickly, able to answer my own question.
I took a look at historic bird houses such as Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello, Edison’s Menlo Park, Colonial Cottage, Lighthouse, a bird house created in the style of a public library, a Town Hall Bird House, an Oriental Bird House and a San Francisco Row House Bird House.
Then I saw lovely domiciles such as a Riverboat Queen, a Train Station, a Winery Boot, a Western Boot, a Tree House, a Yacht Club, a Beach Hangout, a Cowboy Rooster, a Jackpot City, a Bass Lake Lodge, a Farmer’s Market and a Goin’ Fishing Bird Houses.
This “window shopping” experience did a wonderful job in broadening my horizons because I never knew of the wide variety of bird houses that are available.
I, quickly, realized that I had answered my own question. I, also, found out that there is a bird house for every taste, personality and for every genre. But the ones with funny themes with cartoon characters and ridiculous backgrounds screamed whimsy. And delightful they were. I found my whimsical bird house that, I know, will bring delight and cheer to any guests that come to my yard. But what I am sure will happen is that the Wild Birds that come to see it will be amused also.
