Bird In House

The Place to be for Bird Lovers and Enthusiasts
The brainchild of Dr. Goh Keng Swee, Jurong Bird Park was first opened in 1971 at a cost of S$3.5 million. Dr. Goh Keng Swee envisioned an area where people could escape the busy city life and relax in peace with nature. Having visited Rio de Janeiro’s zoological gardens Dr. Swee became amazed at their free-flight aviary and so the vision was planted.
Jurong Bird Park now is a world renowned park and is home to numerous species of birds from world over. Jurong Bird Park houses the largest collection of birds at present and is the second largest bird park area wise. The park is home to over 9, 000 birds of about 600 different species which includes 29 endangered species.
There are many shows and exhibits at the park and some of these attractions include the Birds n Buddies show, Birds of Prey Show, African Wetlands, Waterfall Aviary, Flightless Birds, Southeast Asian Birds Aviary, Lory Loft, Penguin Expedition, World of Darkness, Pelican Cove, Lunch with the Birds, and the Panorail.
The Birds n Buddies show, also called the “All Star Birdshow” features a large species of birds performing in a single act. The African Wetlands, a recent addition, showcases birds from Africa in their natural environment. The Waterfall Aviary, hosts the world’s largest man made waterfall, standing at a height of 30 metres, and has over 1,500 free-flying birds from 60 species. Visitors can feed Lories at the Lory Loft with a special nectar mix. The Panorail, is the worlds only monorail built inside an aviary, visitors can travel around the aviary in this monorail.
The park also has a Burgher restaurant, an ice-cream parlour, a gift shop and also a bird hospital. If you are looking to stay a few days in the area and are looking for Singapore serviced apartments or a Singapore serviced residence, a good idea would be to try the Somerset Liang Court.
